I’m Kaleigh Glass, Emerson’s mom and co‑founder of the Emerson’s Rae of Light Foundation. Today, I’m writing to share a deeply meaningful moment in our journey — the donation of a Cuddle Cot to Memorial Hospital & Manor in Bainbridge, GA.
Why This Gift Matters
After losing our beautiful Emerson Rae Glass in February 2021, my husband Allen and I were overwhelmed by the heartbreak of those final moments together. We firmly believe that every family deserves dignity, love, and the gift of time. When I learned how quickly an infant’s features can fade, especially in the early hours, I was determined to prevent other parents from experiencing the suddenness of that loss. We were lucky enough to be able to borrow a Cuddle Cot from a neighboring hospital and use that to spend much needed time getting to know our daughter before we had to say goodbye.
That’s why the Cuddle Cot is so important. It’s a cooling unit that keeps a baby’s body preserved, giving parents vital extra time to hold their child, make memories, and begin healing.
Bringing Light Through Action
Since founding the Emerson’s Rae of Light Foundation, we’ve raised $80,000 to support families across South Georgia. Among our first donations was a Cuddle Cot to Archbold Memorial in Thomasville — and we’re honored now to place another in Bainbridge.
At Memorial Hospital & Manor, families previously received memory boxes with gowns, blankets, and keepsakes. But now, thanks to your support and this donation, they’ll have a Cuddle Cot — a tangible way to slow time when it matters most.
A Note from the Heart
Until you lose a child, this isn’t a necessity in hospitals—but it is. Child loss is something that no one wants to think about and hospitals certainly don't want to draw attention to, but it happens, and hospitals need to be prepared to support those parents and their families.
Looking Ahead
We plan to keep this momentum going — placing Cuddle Cots in hospitals throughout the region. Each one means more families can say goodbye on their own terms, with extra moments to hold, touch, and love.
None of this would be possible without you: our community, our supporters, our family, and especially my courageous daughter, Emerson Rae. Her light continues to shine through every life our foundation touches.
Thank you for reading this message from my heart. If you’d like to support future donations or bring a Cuddle Cot to your local hospital, please reach out to the Emerson’s Rae of Light Foundation. Let’s give families the gift of time—together.
